This story is about two women who are abducted by a very sick and violent man. One of his victims had actually escaped him years before. While we are focused on these women, we also get to see what the boyfriends are being subjected to by the law enforcement office, media, and family/friends. Even after being cleared as a person of interest in these abductions these men are still hounded by the media.The entire story is quite frightening and parts are painful to even read. Intertwined in the story are chapters on the perpetrator's history and his present life. Raised by an unstable violent and quite abusive father its not surprising how he turned out.
Great book....fantastic storytelling. Looking forward to the next books with this Detective. She isn't featured as much as she should and hopefully that changes.

The 1st chapter of the book had me hooked. How evil a man can be is unfortunate. The book kept me hooked and I found myself cheering for the victims. I hate that the bad guy didn’t get what he deserved. This is a book worth reading and you will not be disappointed. Cheers for the characters and the author.
There is evil in the world and this book captures the very essence of it. The women portrayed are truly brave, each in their own way. There should have been more written that certain characters could have done in the thought of escape. Close to the end just seemed a little too overdramatic to be real. The ending was a nice twist though.
I liked this book enough to quote a couple of paragraghs on FB (credited of course), something I rarely do. This is a dark book, without a doubt....left me both squeamish and afraid to come downstairs in the dark. The ending....well, i can't give it away, but the ending should submit this author's place with the likes of Koontz and Saul.
Once I started this book, I didn't want to put it down. This story is so frightening because it is something that could actually happen. I liked the characters even though the main character is creepy and deeply disturbed. If this author's other books are as good as this one, I am anxious to read them.
Written in third grade English with short little sentences and platitudes. The is storyline transparent and the characters utterly predictable. What a joke of a book... the author has no talent. I did not finish this book.
This was introduced as a Lilla Rose mystery. Very little Rose was in it. Several contradictions were unexplained. The characters were strong and the writing descriptive. A brutal story that opined that abused children grow up to be abusers and killers. Really? Not necessarily, but it explains the motivation of the main character. Worthwhile reading, especially the ending which suggests that abuse and killing are hereditary!
I have to tell you that this book scared me to death.
Azrael, a name the killer called himself, was an evil man. He had an awful childhood and his mother never stood up for him. So, I guess it's no wonder he turned out like he did. Emily was the first woman he abducted and she managed to bash him in the head and get away. But that didn't stop him. He became better at abduction and eventually had two women captive. The boyfriends were the first suspects. The press and the public wouldn't leave them alone. The women were horribly raped and abused but the depictions were not overly graphic. The ending was sad, hopeful, surprising, and then a little creepy.
It was a good story that had you hoping the police would get there on time. It certainly keeps your heart racing and holds your attention. I recommend it to anyone who likes a good scare. That last little twist at the end will have you grabbing the next book. It's not a cliffhanger, just a little creepy thought planted.
